I am really glad that I participated in this project I learned more about myself and I gained new friends from different countries. I am still in touch with them and also with my receiving organization.

When I first saw the ESC opportunity in Spain, I was motivated to apply, knowing that it would be a great chance to improve my language skills, especially since I majored in Spanish Philology in Egypt. Although I was a little bit scared when I got accepted, I managed to overcome my fears with the support of my family and friends.

During my volunteering project, I developed my intercultural communication skills and became more open-minded toward different cultures. I was able to break down the stereotypes I previously had about some countries, as well as change the stereotypes others had about my own country. I was fascinated to learn more about the world through the other volunteers and to taste the traditional dishes from each of their countries. I was also very proud to have the opportunity to cook a traditional Egyptian dish in Noja during a cooking event for Cantabrian children, as well as for the other volunteers during intercultural evenings in our apartment.

To summarize my ESC experience, I would say that it was an unforgettable journey that gave me the chance to rediscover myself and positively changed who I am.

By delivering many presentations both inside and outside the office, I improved my communication and presentation skills and gained greater self-confidence. I also strengthened my teamwork skills by collaborating with other volunteers and colleagues. In addition, I learned a great deal about people with disabilities, especially blind people, through my work with the ONCE organization, which specializes in supporting individuals with visual impairments. This experience helped me better understand their needs and inspired me to volunteer with a similar organization in my home country.
